Can you choose your attitude? Some people will say yes! However, is it a learned behaviour or simply in us? I really do not know the answer I wish I did!, What I do know is that it is our attitude that can let us down on the road.
One school of thought is that many drivers are not being associated with events due to their lack of technical skills behind the wheel; it is not even their lack of understanding of the guidelines of the road. It is their attitude and behaviour behind the wheel that lets them down, time after time. Basically, it is our attitude that drives our behaviour.
So what changes when we get in the vehicle? Why does a lovely person who would hold the door open for you change behind the wheel? The same person, who would forgive somebody for making a genuine mistake. Yet on the road they would beep, use unsavoury hand signals, shout and promise at a person for simply making a genuine error.
Let's face it we all make mistakes each day and we hope people will forgive us for them. Remember, when a driver slips up near you don't take it personal, it might have been the only mistake they have made all week! Now I know what you are thinking, "Well another person's mistake might trigger damage to my vehicle, injury or perhaps death".
Getting upset due to another person's mistake might be considereded as just instinctive. But, allowing that anger to end up being counterproductive will only make matters worse, so yes be upset but control your anger, remember emotion plays an enormous part in our ability to make logical decisions. You might end up making the wrong decision and end up being the person who does trigger another person to be hurt.
